Happy Small Business Saturday!

As a small business with strong ties to our community, we’re big supporters of shopping small and shopping local. We’re also blessed to be located in an area that is also home to so many awesome (and delicious!) small businesses!

Take a stroll through our ‘hood today to visit some of our neighbours, and sample some of our favourite treats and nibbles:

Looking for a meaningful gift this season?

Metropolis Mercantile & Cafe

Pop in to visit our friends at the newly opened Metropolis Mercantile & Cafe and take a stroll through their large, beautiful space filled with local, Canadian-made and socially responsible products! While there, sample their tasty menu of specialty coffees, teas, and homemade treats. You can find Metropolis just to the east of Main Street, overlooking the Riverwalk Commons parking lot!

Kith

Green thumb? Take a peek into Kith Flower & Gift Shop for adorable plants and locally made gift items and home goods. Kith also offers seasonal workshops if you prefer an experience gift!

Hempen Jewellers

As a family-owned, small business, Hempen Jewellers had been serving York Region for over 48 years. Browse the stunning counters to take in dazzling engagement rings, wedding bands, or to dream up a custom piece for someone you love.

Good Vibes

Nestled next to the many buzzing businesses of Main Street, Good Vibes clothing store provides visitors with just that – the best of vibes! Owned by Ken and Vickie Sparks and their Chief Operating Canine, Kody, their goal is to spread optimism – and we love that!

Market & Co.

We’re big fans of the Market & Co. at Upper Canada Mall! Amongst all the delicious food options is Kitchen & Co., an interactive kitchen space. Why not gift an experience in the form of a cooking class?

Hungry for a snack or sweet treat?

We’re an office that celebrates pickle day, potato chip day, and cookie day, so you know that we love food. Here are some of our favourite Newmarket treats:

Nutmeg

Located dangerously close to our office, we’ve loved Nutmeg from day one! Pick up a dozen cookies and cruffins — the OG cinnamon cruffin and buttery croissants never disappoint!

Hungry Brew Hops

Try the cauliflower fritters at Hungry Brew Hops (and pair them with a pint of Beau’s Lug Tread) — you won’t regret it!

Fresh Tea Shop

Warm-up at The Fresh Tea Shop (affectionately known around here as Teatopia) with a hot or cold Elephant Spice Chai, or a Hot or Iced Chocolate with an Espresso Shot!

Market & Co.

Market & Co is the home of 21 artisanal merchants. While everything is delicious, our top recommendations are the pizza at Midici, salt and malt chips at Craft Chippery, and calamari fries at Pier 87.

Soup-Pa

Sample some super delicious soups from Soup-Pa! Check out their menu daily on Instagram.

Cardinal Press

Sip on a mocha, Americano or latte in Cardinal Press’ warm, cozy space.

Chip & Malt

The fish at Chip & Malt is delicious, but if you’re looking for something a little different, take our word for it and try the halloumi.

Hesed

Visit Vicky and Joseph at Café Hesed for a friendly vibe, the best classical playlist, and delicious sandwiches (we love the Grilled Veggie)!

Joia on Main

Our friends at Joia on Main are crushing it with their pizzas! Our favourites? The Pesto and Carne Pizzas. We’re drooling just thinking about it.

Old Village Free House

Looking for a hearty meal? Check out OVFH for Fajita Wednesdays, Butter Chicken, Bangers & Mash, an extensive breakfast menu, and all the pub grub you could wish for!

Maid’s Cottage

When it comes to the Maid’s Cottage, we have two very important words to share: Butter. Tarts. Homemade is always best when someone else is cooking!

Cachet

Small business owner Jenn McLachlan values the small-town feel of Newmarket and community entrepreneurship. Head over to Cachet to discover a place where tables are more than just a number.

Stay tuned for our next RC Community Connections, which will highlight the amazing work our clients are doing to give back to their communities!
