At RC Design, we believe in quality of work and quality of living. We also believe in the essential value of strengthening, supporting, and investing in our community.

That’s why we’ve chosen to shed light on some of our amazing clients, highlighting some of the inspiring charitable work they’re doing this holiday season to make our community a more compassionate and caring place to live and work.

Baker & Baker Benefits x Inn From The Cold

At 6 am every Wednesday morning from November to April, Baker & Baker Benefits owner, Craig Baker, can be found volunteering his time at Inn From the Cold, helping the guests start their day.

“It’s important to me to give back to the community that my family and I enjoy living and working in. A few hours a week is a small amount of time that provides great benefit for the guests of Inn From the Cold and also for me and how I approach my day.” – Craig Baker, President at Baker & Baker Benefits

This is Craig’s third year as a member of the Wednesday morning team.

“The Wednesday morning volunteers that I work with are a wonderful group of people who tackle their tasks with kindness and enthusiasm. It’s inspiring to be around their energy and positive spirit.” – Craig Baker, President at Baker & Baker Benefits

As it happens this year, Christmas morning and New Years Day fall on a Wednesday. Craig will be at Inn From the Cold on both of these holidays keeping up his commitment to the guests.

“The work and the commitment I make to our guests grounds me and reminds me to count my blessings every day. It’s rewarding, the guests are very grateful to all the volunteers who help there.” – Craig Baker, President at Baker & Baker Benefits

As a local Newmarket business and one we are proud to call a client, Baker & Baker Benefits has sponsored a night at Inn From the Cold in the past and plans to do so again this winter.

Inn From The Cold provides seasonal shelter services seven days a week during the winter months and day programming. In addition, IFTC now operates a housing program for four chronically homeless men and the Getting Ahead in a Just Getting’ By World program.

Oxford Properties x Community Living Central York

Too busy to wrap gifts yourself? Starting December 1, 2019, inside Market & Co., volunteers from across our community can be found offering their wrapping services for your donations!

“The Oxford Properties are an amazing team and align with our vision ‘a community where everyone belongs’.”- Colleen Zakoor, MA at Community Living

Oxford Properties and Upper Canada Mall have teamed up with Community Living Central York to raise funds for their incredible programs. What a beautiful and festive partnership!

“CLCY and UCM may have different customers, but we all want experiences to be successful, whether it is programs/services from our end, or attracting and keeping shoppers. Remembering good experience goes beyond.” – Colleen Zakoor, MA at Community Living

Community Living in Central York is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides support to people who have an intellectual disability. CLCY offers a wide range of supports and services that enable people to reach their fullest potential.

Neighbourhood Network x Holiday Gift Drive

Our friends at Neighbourhood Network multiply community by giving and creating caring and vibrant neighbourhoods through promoting volunteerism, linking resources, and supporting local charities and agencies.

One of their most notable events each year is the Magna Hoedown, York Region’s largest annual fundraiser, which has raised over 13 million dollars for hundreds of local charities, non-profits, and community groups throughout its history.

Want to get involved with their great work this winter season? Neighbourhood Network’s Holiday Gift Drive runs until December 20th! Check out their virtual shopping list to help ensure your donation goes into the hands of someone who needs it this holiday season.

Metropolis Mercantile + Cafe x My HOME Apparel

Metropolis Mercantile + Cafe now carries an incredible line of Canadian clothing called My HOME Apparel. This mission of My HOME Apparel is to give Canadians a comforting piece of home, while also helping give all Canadians a home.

“We chose to support My HOME Apparel because they are a grassroots Canadian company that designs and manufactures in Nova Scotia. Their materials come from Stanfield, a long-standing Canadian brand and their mission is to end homelessness in Canada.” – Karla Wilson, Owner of Metropolis Mercantile + Cafe

My HOME Apparel currently works with homelessness initiates across Canada and donates 5% of profits to initiatives to end homelessness. In less than three years, they have donated over $30,000 to partnered organizations.

“A percentage of each piece of clothing goes back to various communities. For every hat purchased, one is donated to a shelter.” – Karla Wilson, Owner of Metropolis Mercantile + Cafe

Descon x Food Pantry & Inn From The Cold

In lieu of sending holiday cards, Descon, a conveyor solutions company, has made donations to Inn from the Cold and the Newmarket Food Pantry this year.

Located in Newmarket, the Descon team believes it’s important to support their local community by helping to provide a warm place to sleep and food on the table for those in need during the holiday season – and we think that’s pretty great.

The mission of the Newmarket Food Pantry is to coordinate the efforts of the community in providing supplementary nutritional support to those in the Newmarket and East Gwillimbury areas who are unable to meet all of their dietary needs on their own.

RC Design x Community

As ambassadors for change and growth, we are committed to giving back and to working with organizations that have an invested interest in creating positive change in the community.

In addition to the donations, pro-bono, and volunteer efforts Team RC makes throughout the year, this holiday season we have chosen to donate to Southlake Hospital, Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation, and Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.

“We love who we work with, and we look forward to working with more inspiring community partners in 2020. I honestly can’t wait.” — Rob Clark, CEO RC Design
